Welcome to Adhesion Molecules
Adhesion molecules are essential proteins, located on the surface of the cells and are involved in the process of cell adhesion. A cell adhesion process can involve attachment with other cell types or with any form of extra cellular matrix. The physiological relevance of such proteins is demonstrated in various types of diseases that are a consequential of defects or abrupt functioning of these proteins. Accordingly, these molecules are termed as the ‘glue of life’ and thus therapeutic effects of targeting such molecules are being clinically investigated.
